You don’t know what you don’t know!

Have you ever experienced something like this? You are learning something new and you find yourself with just enough knowledge to think you know. Then something happens! You see something or try something on your own and it opens up another level of learning. Then you look back and say “why didn’t I see it?” Can you imagine if we had to learn to walk, run, skip and jump all at the same time? Of course that isn’t possible. There is a season to everything. We walk first, then run.

I know we’ve been talking about the 3 common problems beginning artists make but did you know that even experienced artists struggle with these things as well?. Have you ever thought to yourself “I should know this by now. I’ve been at it for years. Often, time heals all things but not always. If you are doing the same thing over and over you can’t expect different results.

That is what happened to Linda. She tried taking art classes and soon discovered after two classes that she could paint as well as her instructor. She wanted more so she searched for others to teach her. You should see what she is painting now since she joined our program. Steve was another one. He was struggling to learn to paint. Didn’t believe he had what it took. Was getting discouraged thinking he couldn’t paint. Thankfully he didn’t give up. He discovered that he was using an inferior paint and couldn’t achieve the results he was looking for. Steve won a regional award and went to a national art show with one of his paintings he painted in our course.

Sometimes all it takes is to recognize that we don’t know what we don’t know. Once we do we are open to receive light and knowledge. Then, we are free to pursue our dreams of becoming a great artist.

Happy Painting!
