“You need the opposite color!”

We’ve posted this idea before but it can’t be emphasized enough. This technique is what will set your paintings apart from every other artist out there. Bill was a master of color.

Hi, I like this point, and it certainly should be revisited over and over. I was wondering if there could be a tag for whichever of Bill’s videos these ‘tip clips’ come from. Sometimes I have seen the video, and can recognize it, other times not. The reason I would like the opportunity to jump to the full video is that these daily tips are another good way of becoming familiar with the breadth of Bill’s paintings. If the “daily tip clip” has a portion of a painting which I think is interesting, I would like to see the entire video. I have had this thought many times when watching the “daily tip clip”.
Thanks again for all of this greatness.

Thanks for continuing to post Bill’s vitally important video tips to help us mere mortals improve our own artistic talent. I began watching Bill’s teaching videos over twelve months ago. The impact of learning from Bill is most apparent in my more recent oil paintings. I study Bill’s videos over and over and always pick up on some vital techniques I missed during earlier viewings. Bill’s empathy with his audience and students is so strongly motivating. What a sincere, dedicated gentleman was Bill. His enthusiasm and excitement with his art are totally infectious and it is fantastic that long after his passing he still teaches with such passion for his craft.
    Thanks. Ross
