The Marbled Effect

One of the key elements in making perspective work for you in your paintings is color. Distant objects are lighter in color than those closer to you. Bill shows you how he mixes the color to make the mountain appear thirty miles away.

Notice how Bill doesn’t completely mix the paint – he leaves a marbled effect. In another video Bill talks about one of the biggest mistakes beginning artists make when mixing colors. They mix the mountain color too much. The “marbled” effect is lost. The paint becomes “mud”.
