This Video Tip Comes from our “Master Class with Tom Anderson.” He explains the procedure of painting on a dry canvas. Every great artist refines his/her work long after it was supposed to be done. Sometimes it is best to let a painting hang on your wall for a while while you evaluate it. If you want to add to it, no problem! Tom will show you one way to do it.

Things to Consider:

• Tom starts with a dry canvas.
• Tom is showing a renaissance technique. Yes, they used clear oil as well.
• The Alexander Magic Clear is not only clear but concentrated. A little goes a long way. It has a faint smell of lavender and is made with an all-natural process. No harmful chemicals.
• He used a very, very thin coat of oil. Wipe it In with a paper towel.
• Then Tom added a tree using the wet-on-wet technique.
• If Tom had been dissatisfied with the results he could have used an “art wipe” to remove the paint so he could start over.
