Tom continues to break down the process of making rocks. Using light, medium and dark values. He adjusts the shape by adding color. He says it is ok to piddle! Others say not but Tom thinks it is what makes a painting! Just be careful not to overdo it or you will lose your lights. Another point he makes is to “not rush the lights.” Sometimes it is hard to watch painting progress because it looks so wrong until it doesn’t! The secret is to allow for the “ugly” stage and to not give up until you’ve worked past it.

We hope you are painting along. This concept can be used anytime that you want to create form. Lights, mediums, darks, and reflective blue will do!
