Today’s Video Clip comes from our Introductory Master Class. Tom shows us how to conserve paint. We know that paint is expensive. We also know that if you buy good quality paint, your painting experience will be much better and your paintings will be amazing! In our Master Class Series, we teach you how to paint with less paint. We teach you how to mix your own colors from the primary colors. How does this save paint? It means that you don’t have to put out a multitude of colors on the palette. It means that you can mix just the right amount of paint when you need it.

In today’s tip, Tom shows how to save your paint at the end of the day. Tom shows you how to put it in containers but you can also put your entire palette in the freezer or refrigerator. This works well especially if you plan to use the paint in the next couple of days.

Key Points to Consider;​

• Tom is picking up the clean paint from the palette.
• He adds Alexander Magic Clear to the paint in the airtight container.
• Our Magic Clear is concentrated and goes a long way. You only need a few drops to loosen the paint.
• Tom adds Magic Clear to the paint because the oil keeps the paint from drying out in the container.
• The air causes paint to oxidize and dry out. If you leave it for a long time, it may dry out but not if you put it in the freezer or refrigerator.
• If you freeze or refrigerate your paint, allow it to come to room temperature before you use it.
• If you find that you’ve added too much oil to the paint, place the paint on a paper towel and let the paper towel absorb some of the oil. (This works well too if you want to make your Titanium White even thicker to achieve impasto results.
